Sounds good to me.

I read that there is no week to view available in the calendar is that true? :)

Okay I'll carry on working on that basis :)

Now on Xda-Developers I've been asked:

Quote

I have heard a bit of bad press about the hd7 merely being just an hd2 with windows phone 7. The main issues being battery screen luminosity (compared to amoled) and poor construction (the hinge of the camera feeling quite weak)

next question can you put this at rest
expandable memory
do you see a microsd slot on this device or are you stuck with 16/8gb and that's all there is to it?

Quote

Is the kickstand flush with the back or does it stick out a bit like engadget's unit does?

So to answer those questions in order:

  • Week view - no it is not there, one has a day view, month view or agenda view only.
  • The HD2 and HD7 are completely different, the exterior may be similar but the hardware in a HD2 could not run WP7 as there are a lot of items lacking in its construction.
  • I've had no issues with the screen at all, it's worked for me in bright sunlight so far and is not much dimmer than that of my HTC Desire.
  • Poor construction - not at all it appears very well constructed and the only possible weak area could be if the kick-stand was impacted hard and bent out of shape.
  • The memory is not designed to be expanded, and with the O2 variant of the HD7 that means you get 16Gb of storage. However if one was to disassemble it and carefully remove the antenna housing which covers the embedded card it could be expanded - not a job for the faint hearted though!
  • The Kick-stand does rise above the back of the HD7 slightly, maybe 1mm or so, but that looks to be by design and not a flaw in construction.

Any more questions?

List looks good to me - esp the day to day as this is what its all about.

Also read there are issues attaching word & Excel to emails - please say not true!
Will try and find the Facebook issue about being unable to control the content it downloads (quantity rather than quality issue).

Do we know exactly what the hardware differences are between the HD2 and HD7?

We know the screen is essentially the same and the processor exactly the same . Is it just the memory architecture that is different- the use of spanned volumes and enhanced SD card access?

I was considering going through:

[*] Adding details of the Zune integration on the PC

Very nice review. ;)

Please, let us know how the 'old' apps works on WM7 (it means, without sofkeys).

For example: Does Skype works on it? Unfortunately Skype is an 'abandonware' for WM. :(

Just read your update for today, so you want questions you have them! :)

How quick is the HD7 at transferring music from your PC to phone, quicker than say an HD2, and what class rating is the embedded memory card as a matter of interest?

The app tiles; what is the maximum number of tiles that can be used at once? I notice the HTC Hub takes up two.

Once you have used the allocated tiles up for your favourite apps, you have to go to the list of apps in alphabetical order to select one, do you find this can be a pain?

The exact differences are not published by MS at all, but I believe part of it is allied to the graphics system and the other the physics engines involved, the circuitry is not as advanced or plain not there in the HD2 and if WP7 was loaded on such a machine it would be fundamentally lacking.

The old WM6.5 and older applications will not work at all this is a completely new OS and the applications have to be rewritten for it.

Grin transfer speed is pretty fast, no accurate way of measuring and no speed rating given for the SD card, but I transferee over 3 x 1.1Gb movie files in around 5-7 minutes this morning.

Maximum number of tiles? Hmm no ideas as of yet, I'm still adding without issue. The limitation is I'd say more ergonomically based, that is whether it is quicker to swipe left and scroll the apps list or whether to scroll the large list of other tiles on the start page. Remember that live tiles have to be rived by notifications from the server side so if (and I think I have this right) say Twitter wanted to produce a live tile, they would have to set up the resource on their server to power it, both the generation and the triggering. Therefore a lot of third party tiles will not be active in any way so if that is the case why have the tile large on the front screen if in effect it's just a large icon for launching. So it may be quicker to use the application launcher. So a left scroll and a flick to an app is quite painless in effect.

I hope that makes sense?

I'm enjoying it so far in the main, I'm certainly finding I'm doing a lot more emailing than if I was using the iPhone 4 or the Desire it's so much more capable. Size is not a problem at all, but then again I got used to the HD2 with no issues either.

The social aspects of 'People' and 'Pictures' are cool, as is the auto upload to SkyDrive. The video playback is good but a bit iffy as the movies I'm using at the moment are HiDef MP4s encoded for the iPhone and I think a bit too heavy.

The Audio search system via Bing works well and actually handles my voice which is a first for any system!

So apart from the power drain and the lack of eBooks system I'm enjoying it greatly!

Regarding automatic photo uploading to Live, is it a big data user, or can you set it upload photo's connected via Wi-Fi only?
