I have successfully debranded my Vodafone UK HTC Trophy ROM at last, and replaced it with an unbranded version. This is now possible thanks to ansar.ath.gr over at xda developers here. It is also possible to return to the branded version of the Vodafone ROM for warranty purposes, I have tried and tested it many times so know that it works. This method is better than the Y Cable way which if used means you can't return to the original OS.

There is a slight problem with part 2 of the Vodafone UK ROM update which should mean you can upgrade the ROM to a later version and this is being worked on, but it doesn't stop you debranding from the Vodafone Rom.

There are also other HTC Trophy debranding ROMs available in the first post of the thread. :)

What are the advantages of debranding mate? I'd have thought that there was very little variation between builds?

Gets rid of the inbuilt Vodafone 360 app that is full of rubbish and takes up valuable storage space and of course the splash screen. Once he fixes the update for the latest ROM I can move up to a newer version. :)

Yes it can be data hungry as it's bloatware in my view, it contains Vodafones retail web services and the like.

I never activate it so it won't be missed! :)

Hi and welcome to SPG :)

First off you will need to check which ROM you are running in settings> about. If you have updated your phone through Zune to the latest available ROM you won't be able to debrand as the bootloader version will have been changed to stop you doing so.

The only way to debrand is to use the Y cable and gold card method in conjunction with an early ROM verson as described here, this will then enable you to install HSPL/RSPL and then install the custom ROM of your choice. I hope that helps.
