>>a lot of the roads around here are marked as A and B roads - even though they are often little more than dirt tracks winding down impossibly steep gradients. If I plot a route on Google Maps it will often take roads that I know are barely suitable for a Quad Bike, never mind a car.<<

All very interesting - is it any wonder I get nervous on planes, when 'hi-tech' can just mean a bigger, faster bal*s-up !!!

I have a soft spot for CPL - I remember seeing it as a 'freebie' on one of my XDAs and assuming that it would be just a toy - and using it for the first time to get to deepest, darkest parts of London, which it did fine (on that occasion, no single track road!!!)

Nope :) I have three Exchange systems I need to have connected as well as email, covering contacts and appointments.
Sounds like you'd be better off with the iPhone!  BTW - I have both TomTom and Navigon for the iPhone and I much prefer the latter! :)

I do :) But I want a more flexible system with me that truly multi-tasks and that I can customise, and that knocks out the iPhone.
