Couldn't full-screen be included as an option? One which obviously would not work on 1.x versions.

I will install the latest rom versions of Android on the emulator and try to work with that, to see what I can do.
My Pandigital is 1.5 and that's the only physical android I have until i change phone when my contract expires in two months.
And, anyway, my wife uses the Pandigital to read. I still use my wonderful O2 device (that was graciously offered to me by THE Guru, thanks again!) that has batteries that never dies (probably because I never used it as a phone) -- I go weeks without recharging it, and the readout says 90%...

You may be interested to know that Cool Reader (my second favourite eBook reader) has a full-screen option, and a couple of other desirable features, such as a choice of dictionary and the ability to distinguish between single touch, double touch and long touch.
And Cool Reader is (hint, hint) open source...
