Well for various reasons I've been wanting a desk cradle for the Sensation for a while, and noted that MobileFun has stock of the HTC CR S490 Desktop Cradle for HTC Sensation / Sensation XEso I decided to order one.

Very impressed so far, sits nicely on the desk and allows drop in charging with USB connection to the PC.

When in dock mode it displays:
  • Time
  • Next alarm due time
  • Weather (Location, max / min temps, current temp, current conditions) as well as the background showing the weather animation
  • Latest social media information.
and has shortcuts to:
  • Exit
  • Photoframe
  • Connected media
  • Calendar
  • Dimmer
Dock mode can be disabled of course which leaves you with sense. Annoyingly though Sense does not rotate to show any landscape version.

The button on the back allows the dock mode to be toggled on and off without touching the screen controls.

Nice - i wonder if it would accept the Sensation with a very thin case ( the "Barely there" case from CaseMate) ?

Pics would be good !!

Will see what I can do later about the pics. No way on gods earth will it take the Sensation with any sort of case or skin at all. The clearances around the dock / body juncture are very very close indeed. No regrets in buying it at all though.

Pics added to the first post and reworked a bit to make it a mini-review :)

Now the pics have appeared, i see what you mean about a tight fit. The barely there cover slips off easily tho, so not a deal breaker for me.

Looks good on the desk tho, with the Sensation in dock mode - i might get one for here as the Sens usually ends up swinging on the end of a USB cable once i start moving stuff round the desk :)

Very nicely made too with a good 'weight' to it which means no skating around on the desk, aided by 4 decent rubber feet underneath. So yes Mike it'd definitely prevent your sliding issues!

I think it supports the MDHI outlet via MHL cable as well but as I've lost my spare HDMI cable I can't test that at the moment as I begrudge spending the dosh on cabling!

Tempted to buy a second one for work, but first I'm going to try the car mount at the office and see if that will stick on the desk as I'd rather avoid spending the cash unless I can avoid it!

Well it looks like I'll have to save up a bit of free cash and invest on a second dock. The car cradle did stick to the desk okay at work but alas will only invoke the car navigation dock mode on the Sensation and not the Dock mode invoked by this dock.

Plus it's a lot more fiddly to put the Sensation into the car dock as that locks the machine in place and is a bit fiddle to perform - certainly not one handed!
