Brandon Watson was Microsoft's head of Windows Phone Developer Experience and had an important role in making Windows Phone 7 more popular while making sure developers got everything they need in order to code great apps for the platform.

Watson took it to Twitter to confirm the rumors of him leaving Microsoft. According to a letter sent out, he will be working for Amazon as Director of the Kindle Cross Platform team. He will still be working with applications but this time he'll make sure Kindle apps will do great across different platforms, including Windows Phone and Windows 8. Microsoft hasn't commented on his replacement but confirmed that Watson's last day with Microsoft will be February 6.

Fingers are firmly crossed both that Brandon can improve Kindle on WP7 and that his replacement does manage to stand firm in Brandons footsteps.

Bit of a coup for Amazon.

It will be interesting to see who things develop....

It will. Makes one wonder if Amazon are considering a WindowsPhone of whether it will be purely on additional integration work. I do note that an Amazon cloud SDK was just released by MS.
