That is scarily impressive.

I would imagine tho, that the Advertising Standards Authority would insist that all such adverts carry a tagline stating "This is a simulation of the actual car", the same way that they insist Video Game makers state "not actual gameplay footage".

Seconding Mikes thoughts there, I can see film makers taking to that in a big way!

Car advertising is becoming more about style than substance anyway, in our litigious age of heath and safety.

You no longer see cars being driven fast, with the tagline "professional driver on closed roads" because of the fear of some idiot copying it and getting killed. So now you see sports cars slowly driving around super curvy bends, which I guess is perfect for CGI skinning as shown above.

Impressive.

This could form the basis of a new 'Top Gear' and at last get rid of the sequence of idiots who have presented it over the last few years!

Indeed, but inevitably it would still have Chris Evans shrieking about the car in the background ....

Where this would really shine, i think, is as a tool for car manufacturers to take the "build your car" website facility to a new level.

Imagine if you could specify the static car, as now, but then download a movie clip of it being driven with alternating views from inside and out ?
