BBC iPlayer 4K HDR beta

4 posts in this topic

BBC released a beta under iPlayer this week for 4K LG-HDR (Log-Gamma High Dynamic Range) with a small 4 minute demonstration of the capabilities of the broadcast medium.

WOW!

You naturally have to have both a 4K TV and one capable of LG-HDR and coincidentally my new Panasonic TV fits the bill and is supported.

The video is from Planet Earth II and features two clips, one of a Jaguar stalking a Capybara in South America and the other rainfall in a rainforest and the animals (insects and amphibians) getting drenched. It is striking, almost 3D-like in appearance.

Amazing quality.

Not jealous, honest :)

I saw that advertised and wondered if anyone would have the tech needed to see it.

Very nice Tony. Our old Samsung 50inch Plasma is on its way out methinks. After Christmas may see a bit of investment. Although the TV guy (LG) who we had a quick chat with Yesterday said wait until April if possible, that's when the new TV's come out and the current cream of the crop drop in price.
