Hi- welcome to Smartphone Gurus :)

The Touch2 is a relative lightweight in terms of performance and hardware, though it is in itself an excellent device.

The TD2 and TP2 both have reasonable sized batteries and could be expected to last up to 2 days with light use, or 1 day with heavy use.

Most of us with 'performance' devices tend to charge them overnight, or have a small emergency power pack available for when the going gets really tough! Similar devices on other platforms are no better, and often worse! iPhones, Nokias and Android devices all need charging daily if used to their full potential.

Ok, I know this post is a bit old now but things take a while longer to reach Africa;)
I have this phone and must say I'm not overly impressed with it. I find texting difficult and irritating as it loses
all the words I've saved each time I turn the phone off and they don't go into most-used order, it seems to be
quite random.
I also can't bear the flashing amber light that goes off every second when it hits the final 10%. Is there anyway
to stop this short of breaking the bulb?
When I first received the phone (about 4 months ago) the battery life was only about 8 hours with up to 1 minute
calls once, 1hr internet usage and maybe 2/3 texts sent. I had to recharge it 3 times daily so bought a new battery.
This one lasts a little longer. However it's still not good! I charge it early morning so it's ready by 7am, then use
it as stated above and it still dies by 10pm. I never leave any programs running so I've decided it must just be
the phone and short battery life that I must blame. I'd really like to find a way of making it last longer but I can't
use it much less than I already do!
I've contacted customer support but they have absolutely no idea how to help with any of my queries. I'd get further
quicker by guessing and playing.
Could this just be that I have a dud phone or is this the way it was created?

Hi Emily and welcome to SPG :)

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your TD2.

You don't mention what the phone signal is like where you are, is it weak? If so this can cause battery drain as the phone is always hunting for a signal. What about wi-fi and bluetooth do you leave these on at all?

Have you tried hard resetting the TD2 at all to see if that makes a difference to overall performance, as it could help with driver issues that affect battery life.

There are apps that control profiling which enable more detailed control of notifications, but I'm not sure whether low battery counts as a notification.  Have a look at the web pages for Phoneweaver or Phonealarm, and give the trials a go.

Sounds more like dud battery, but as your second battery is not much better then something else is amiss.  Is there 3G coverage where you are?  Try going into call settings and using GSM only, not Auto.  Give that a trial for a day or two.  In some places where 3G coverage is marginal this stops the phone endlessly seeking a 3G signal, which can have a huge effect on battery life.  And Boz's suggestions of turning off Wifi and Bluetooth are also good ideas.
