Hello there guys,
Well isn't the new site funky then.. eh... We do like this. Bringing the 'others' (apple, android etc) into the fold too... Good idea
As ever I'm behind the curve with you lot, on this stuff. Into the bargain I'm not good on the amp,V and ohms front, so wondering if you can answer this one.
Here's what I'm wondering:-
Will this device allow me to power/charge;
a) an advent netbook
B) my htc TP (O2 Serra). I see you used a Diamond Boz, so I suspect that's that question answered, anyway.
and.. and here's the biggy
c) my main laptop. It's an aging Dell Inspiron 6000..
Wait.. wait.. .All I want to do is to be able to leg it from the kitchen to the lounge without having to power it down and restart it..The original battery died because.. I dropped the whole laptop into the bath.. (watching news night.. Slow motion glug, glug, glug).
So, I either buy a new battery for the Dell AND one of these U20 things (if it's any good for my netbook/HTC TP), or simply this U20, as an answer to all my problems...

Power on the adaptor for the Dell says 19.5v and it says 20v on the netbook.. on the ridiculously large, untravelable with supplied power cable.
A dell battery on it's own is 40 quid.. so you can see why I'm so excited.
Or would the 13600amp one really be the solution.. at all.. Not quite such a hot answer that one..
Over to .. errm you lot? With the greatest of deference, of course...

Both the versions are rated at 5V for the quoted output. Upping the voltage means they need to 'drive' harder resulting in more heat and less ability to sustain the quoted power. I think thye both max at 19V which is now the standard for most laptops/netbooks etc.

My 13600mAh version was good till it seemd to sustain a problem with one or more cells. It now dies when half depleted, so will only charge my Advent 4213 once, but it charges the HD2 a few times. Dell tend to use a special tip size, so I'm not sure if that would work.

I agree with Neil on this one, the small battery just won't be up to the job, as the 5v 5400mAh battery output is controlled by built in electronics I doubt if it would even put any charge in at all.

Your best option would be a replacement battery or an extension lead!  :)

As ever.. cheers guys.. Neil made it click..as in I was living in a fantasy world that I could plug it into a USB port, power and leg it to another room.. How, quite that would power it, I don't know. So, I've come to my senses now. This for my main battery less Dell, that is.
I can't believe the lead on my notebook, it's like 30amp cooker wire, with a 3 hole, kettle lead... It's huge and like rope.
As a matter of interest.. get your hands on a black one of these chargers and it might as well be gold.. There isn't one to be had, in black, within the UK! I've found some Stateside, but at 20 quid delivery, there's little point. Especially, with a different plug on it..
Pink, yes.. There are some good deal on that one, but not to be had in black nor white, come to that...
