I agree with the Marketing / Sales theme - its the same if not worse with choccie bars - anyone seen a genuine original kit kat or yorkie bar recently?

I suppose its all about the "brand" at the end of the day - the phone is available across all the carriers (not so much with WM devices) and the actual phone costs are roughly similar so they need something to make their mark. Personally I would suggest scrap all the branding and put all the money saved into customer service.

Agreed over the ROM cooking, what is needed is for OEM's to release decent ROM packages and update them regularly.

I finally got around to updating my TyTnII with Orange's 6.1 ROM - I'd completely forgotten about the Orange Crippleware until it was too late! Gonna leave it with the Orange "Enhancements" installed and disabled for a few days to see how I get on with it before deciding if to hard reset the device and bounce it before the Crippleware installs....

I remember the days when all you could do to customise a phone was to change the stored image which carried the operater logo and construct a new ring tone using a sequence of numbers.....ahhhhhh - life was simpler then and we all went to bed tired, but happy !!
