Retired my old AV Amps....

9 posts in this topic

I've had my massive Denon AV amps since 2000 and they are fantastic but for the last year things have moved on so much it is now limiting my ability to connect things together (no HDMI for one!).

So my AVC-A10SE and POA-T10 are being retired ready for their replacement - the Denon AVR-X4300H.

The reason I kept the Denons for so long was the sound - THX certified and fantastic DD/DTS capability but now DTS:X and Dolby Atmos are out and 4K is the new normal and networks are pervasive it was time to change.

New one should be here tomorrow with free HEOS1 wireless speaker but that will go on eBay as we have the Sonos setup in the house.

9x200W, Bluetooth/Wireless and Ethernet for streaming all my FLAC files from the NAS. HEOS/AirPlay too. 4K upscaling on ALL video sources. HDMI pass-through in standby. This one should last another 10 years or more....

It's been an expensive Christmas!

Now that looks sweet mate, lots of features to ply with and a decent amount of future proofing!

Lordy, lordy this new amp is good!

HDMI control so only 1 HDMI input consumed on the TV, all devices connect to amp and use pass through to TV even in stand-by. NAS streams flawlessly all my FLAC files. All HDMI video sources upscaled to 4K. Spotify Connect also.

Just the NAS streaming has saved me buying a streamer such as the Pioneer one I was looking at (£500).

Well pleased. :D

That is one very solid bit of kit.

HDMI makes for a happy life, with everything playing nicely together !! :)

That looks awesome Tony- and I suspect it sounds even better!

What speaker set are you using is with?

I don't have a home AV setup any more otherwise this would be something to consider :)

No room for a proper multi speaker set up, so my Sony 2.1 home theatre is the best compromise I can manage.
