'Nine' email issues on Nougat

Recommended Posts

Guest Jonathan T.

My solution to this problem was relatively simple.  In Nine's Inbox, on the right menu, there is an option called "Sync this folder".  Somewhere along the way I had inadvertently turned that off, and the folder didn't sync automatically.  When I checked the box everything started working again.

Hi Jonathan.  Thanks for that- a good reminder to check the obvious things first!

In my case, that checkbox was already selected and the issue was caused by some hidden power saving settings within Android.

How are you finding Nine overall?

Nine email configured for Gmail won't send email when using wifi.  Sends emails without trouble when wifi is turned off.  Any thoughts?

Are you using the latest version of Nine (4.0.1b) ?

This sounds like an SMTP transmission error via your broadband provider - it might be worth ringing their help desk and asking which SMTP address they recommend for Gmail.

This is Nine's recommended setup,:

You can set up your account on Nine

  • Domain/username: your email address
  • Server address: m.google.com
  • Security type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
  • Port: 443

Though these settings were for an older version, may be worth checking out.

EDIT: sorry, I think that is incorrect!

I have just tried setting up my Gmail account in Nine and the settings are automatically harvested from Google and cannot be altered.

I am able to send and receive via GSM or WiFi.

Can you send Gmail over Wi-fi using the original Google app?

Thanks for your feedback.  I can send Gmail over wifi without issues.  The inability to send Nine email (as Gmail) seems to be an issue when I have attachments?

Does that point to another issue?

I'm really not sure. I've just tried to send a Gmail message with an attachment and it was sent and received fine so I presume must be a specific issue to your setup.

I'd suggest emailing the developer for advice- they generally respond pretty quickly.

Playing catch up here, I can confirm what Neil is advising no such problems here at all.
