News: Up to £500 trade in on HP Elite X3 Windows Phone

Recommended Posts

Anyone still thinking of buying a new Windows Phone 10 device? There aren't many out there from providers now but HP is still at it and is trying to sweeten the deal on their Elite X3 device in the UK

Buy a HP Elite X3 between 6th March and 30th April 2017 and HP will give you up to £500 trade-in against the device - a 950/950XL will only net you £125 but an iPhone 7 or Galaxy S7/S7 Edge will net you the full £500.

It has to be fully unlocked, not tied to any contract and working.

Anyone tempted?

I am...

I bought a second hand S7 for about £290 and had it unlocked. I hardly use it as I still don't like Android. I could trade that in for £500 against this device and still be on my favoured Windows Phone 10. :-)

Hmmm..

More details here at HP's X3/offer site.

Would it offer you much more than a Lumia 950XL though?

Unless you have a HP Workspace account, the advantage of running X86 apps are not available to the average user.

The cheapest authorised reseller of the X3 I can find (Microsoft) is still charging £706 including the desk stand. A new 950XL can be had for about £280- granted they are getting harder to come by.

It's a nice offer by HP, but is probably an acknowledgement that the X3 was way overpriced to start with.

More robust construction than 950 range, I have both. I'm thinking long term when there are so few WM10 phones to buy...

I work for one of the aforementioned HP Resellers so may be able to wangle staff cost!

If that's the case then I'd probably go for it!

Keep it in the box till the 950's wear out then put it into action, assuming the OS is still going at that point  :)

I'd probably get a call from MS asking how I got hold of such a relic... :-)

Great phone and specs, but not for me. I gave up Windows Phone because of the lack of apps and nothing has changed.

I can see why you'd want it Tony, and the price would be right. :)

My Lumia 950XL SIM slot appears to have died. It's going back to B2X under warranty...
